“Alexandru Myller” Mathematical Seminar Centennial Conference

The Faculty of Mathematics of the “Al. I. Cuza” University of Iaşi and “Octav Mayer” Mathematical Institute of the Romanian Academy announce the organization of the “Alexandru Myller” Mathematical Seminar Centennial Conference from June 21 to June 26, 2010, in celebrating 100 years from the foundation of the “A. Myller” Mathematical Seminar of the University of Iaşi. This celebration is also part of the anniversary of 150 years from the foundation of “Al. I. Cuza” University of Iaşi.

The Mathematical Seminar was founded in 1910 by the late Professor Alexandru Myller, who obtained his Ph.D. degree at Göttingen in 1907, under David Hilbert (chair and adviser), Felix Klein and Hermann Minkowski (members).

Besides a general session dedicated to the history of the Mathematical Seminar, there will be several sessions on the basic branches of Mathematics listing both invited and contributed presentations.

The organizing committee is headed by Professors Viorel BarbuRadu MironConstantin CorduneanuOvidiu CârjăRăzvan Liţcanu,Marius Durea.

All current and former members of the “A. Myller” Mathematical Seminar are kindly invited to participate at this celebration. The invitation is also extended to all interested persons from the international mathematical community. The conference will take place at the University of Iaşi and further information will be provided timely.
